Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Graves Legal LLC (“the Firm,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects through graveslegalco.com (the “Site”) and when you contact us, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It does not cover information the Firm receives while representing a client. That information is protected by the lawyer’s duty of confidentiality under the Nebraska Rules of Professional Conduct and is governed by the client’s engagement letter.
1. Summary
- We collect the information you give us, such as your name, contact details, and the kind of help you need, and basic technical information about visits to the Site.
- We use it to respond to you, check for conflicts of interest, decide whether we can help, and run the Site.
- We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or session recording tools.
- You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information, subject to the limits described in Section 8.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you submit the consultation form, we collect your name, email address, phone number, business name, and the practice areas you select. When you call or email us, we collect your contact information and anything else you choose to tell us. Before we discuss a matter, we ask for the names of the people and businesses involved so that we can check for conflicts of interest.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, our hosting and analytics providers collect your IP address, the pages you view, the page that referred you, any campaign tags in the link you followed, your browser and device type, the date and time of your visit, and your approximate location derived from your IP address.
Information from others. If someone refers you to the Firm, they may give us your name and contact information. When we check for conflicts, we may review public information about the people and businesses involved in a matter.
We do not ask for, and ask you not to send through the Site, Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, health information, or other sensitive personal information.
3. How we use information
- To respond to your request, schedule meetings, and follow up.
- To check for conflicts of interest, which the Nebraska Rules of Professional Conduct require before we can take a matter.
- To provide legal services once you have signed an engagement letter.
- To operate, secure, and improve the Site.
- To comply with the law and our professional obligations, keep business records, and protect our legal rights.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles or to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. Prospective clients and confidentiality
We keep the information you send us confidential and limit access to people who need it for the purposes described above. If you share details about your matter before we have checked for conflicts of interest and told you we can discuss it, Section 4 of our Terms and Conditions explains how that information is treated. Once you are a client, your information is protected by the lawyer’s duty of confidentiality and governed by your engagement letter.
5. How we share information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes. We disclose information only in these situations:
- Service providers that help us run the Firm and the Site, under agreements that limit their use of the information to providing services to us. These include providers of website hosting, security, and analytics; email; practice management; and document storage.
- AI tools. We use AI tools to help with our work only under business agreements that prohibit the provider from training on the information and that impose confidentiality and security obligations on it.
- Professional advisers to the Firm, such as accountants, insurers, and lawyers, who are bound to keep the information confidential.
- Legal requirements. When required by law, court order, or subpoena, or to protect the Firm’s legal rights. Information about clients is disclosed only as the Nebraska Rules of Professional Conduct permit.
- Sale or transfer of the practice. If the Firm’s practice is sold or merged, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to the Nebraska Rules of Professional Conduct, including any required notice to clients.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
The Site does not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, tracking pixels, or session recording tools. Our analytics provider measures visits without cookies and without tracking you across other websites. We do not allow third parties to collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use the Site.
Our hosting and security provider may set strictly necessary cookies that keep the Site working and protect it from abuse. These cannot be switched off through the Site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the Site may not work as intended if you do.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Because the Site uses no optional cookies and we do not sell or share personal information, these signals have nothing to turn off. The Site works the same way whether or not your browser sends them.
7. How long we keep information
- Inquiries that do not become engagements. We keep a basic record of the inquiry, consisting of the names of the people and businesses involved and the general nature of the matter, for as long as needed to check future conflicts of interest. We delete other details within 12 months.
- Client information. We keep it as described in the engagement letter and as our professional obligations require.
- Analytics. We keep analytics data for 12 months.
- Server and security logs. Our hosting and security provider keeps these under its standard retention schedule.
8. Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you may ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate;
- delete your information; and
- stop sending you follow-up messages, other than those about an open matter.
We may need to keep some information despite a deletion request, such as conflict-check records, client files, and records the law requires us to keep. If so, we will tell you what we kept and why. We verify requests by matching the contact information we have on file, and we respond within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent if you give the agent written permission. We will not treat you differently for making a request.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections to the Site and access limited to the Firm and to service providers that need it to provide services to us. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you and any regulators as the law requires.
10. Children
The Site is intended for adults and businesses seeking legal counsel. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
11. Where information is stored
The Firm is based in the United States, and the Site is intended for people in the United States. Information is stored and processed in the United States, though some service providers may process it in other countries. If you contact us from outside the United States, your information will be transferred here.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the most recent revision. We will note material changes on the Site, and if we have your email address and a change affects how we use information you gave us, we will email you. We will not use information collected under an earlier version of this policy in a materially different way without your consent.
